Professional Guidelines:

The Administrative Assistant serves as the main point of contact for the birth center and should be an energetic and professional person who doesn't mind wearing multiple hats. Candidates are expected to be well organized, timely, flexible, and able to work independently. Shreveport Birth Center is a small practice and assistants may be asked to help with other non-clinical tasks to ensure the effective operation of the facility.



  • Basic bookkeeping and documentation of accounts receivable and payable

  • Alerts superiors when anything falls outside of expected parameters

  • Manages the collection of client payments and sets up client invoices

  • Assists with inventory and ordering of medical and office supplies

  • Vendor communication and coordination of services related to practice vendors

  • Maintains accounts payable including timely paying company’s expenses and maintaining filing system of all records

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments

  • Organizes office systems including office files, and storage units

  • Manages communication for events and meetings held at the facility

  • Ensures messages are delivered and responded to in a timely manner

  • Communicates with vendors, clients, and employees on a variety of platforms, including fax, email, and phone

  • Helps coordinate care with other healthcare providers

  • Ensures employee and client files are complete and up to date

  • Assists with and facilitates processes of certification and compliance

  • Routine maintenance and cleaning of the facility



  • Motivated, self-led worker

  • Ability to take the initiative to ensure systems are running smoothly 

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to handle client information discreetly according to HIPAA guidelines

  • Knowledge of Google Suite business applications and other office-related products

  • Communication skills with great phone and in-person etiquette

  • Proficiency in reading and writing English

  • TB test confirming negative status

  • Consent to a background check 


  • Hourly wage commensurate with experience level
