SHREVEPORT PERIOD PARTY
A quarterly celebration to normalize menstruation and empower young people through support, education, and games.
WHY DO WE NEED A PERIOD PARTY?
Around the world period poverty creates a lack of resources that create barriers to access menstrual collection products. This leads the risk of infection, social anxiety, and liklihood that someone might miss school while on their period. This study found that 1 in 5 teens have struggled to afford menstrual products, and 4 in 5 have either missed class time or know someone who has due to problems associated with their periods. The data suggests that stigma and shame surrounding periods further alienates young people and delays a solution.

So, we're taking a small step to help spread awareness, information, and resources to young people who have or are looking to start their periods in the near future. Menstruation is a normal, physiological process experienced by 50% of the world's population - that's over 800 million on any given day. Period Poverty is a solveable problem. Won't you join us in this work to empower the next generation?
