Jaime Wessler, CPM, LM

I began my birth work journey after the birth of my second baby into the hands of a midwife. I was blown away by the compassionate, informed care I received and knew immediately that it was something that I wanted to be a part of. I first became a doula and birth photographer, and later began my career as a student with the same midwife who caught two of my own babies. In 2016 I finished my clinical requirements, and I am so excited to grow my midwifery practice in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

When I opened my practice in Shreveport in 2018, I was solely offering home births, but the goal was always to open a birth center. The original goal was to get a couple of years of home births under my belt and then work slowly towards opening a birth center, but the universe had different plans. A chance stop to gaze into the windows of a commercial lease in August 2018 turned into a whirlwind campaign to raise funds to open a birth center. The community was incredibly supportive, and by October 2018 I was signing a lease. On December 31, 2018, I announced we were ready to catch babies, and just four days later, our first baby was born.

I live in the heart of Shreveport with my three kids, husband, and two cats, and am thrilled to serve this community. This is only the beginning - we have great things in our future!
